It provides information on the significance and application scope of a process audit over the entire product realization cycle in both manufacturing and services It defines the audit process, the criteria for evaluation of the process audit results and the requirements of the processes. At the heart of the standard, each step in the process is modelled with six links and is governed by the Deming Loop – Plan Do Check Act. There are three grades that an organisation can reach under VDA 6.3 – A, B & C. This means that an organisation can pass the audit but still have scope for further improvement.

Customer Audit

A customer audit is a detailed review of how your company is perceived by its customers, a review of each customer’s needs, and an evaluation of the role your company is playing in each of your customer’s businesses. Most B2B firms audit all of their customers. Some companies with very large customer bases, audit their valuable and high-potential customers, or audit a random sample of customers and use that information to classify similar customers.

Process Audit

A process audit is a highly focused inspection of internal systems, processes and organizations. Process audits are more than just product tracing, sampling and measurements. The purpose of process audits is to limit the assessment focus to specific procedures, routines or specifications used in a designated business area, unit or department. Many people assume that process and system audits are identical, but they are quite different.

Product Audit

A product audit — often referred to as a quality audit — is an inspection of a final product before delivering it to a supplier or a customer. Any company, including small businesses, should conduct regular product audits, as they help improve quality, increase profitability and enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Supplier Audit

A supplier audit is a tailor-made programme that assesses a supplier’s quality systems, as well as its workplace environment and ability to meet standards set by either the client or TÜV SÜD. A food supplier audit can ensure that your vendors and suppliers are able to undertake and act upon your specific requirements.
